Charlie Caher helps clients resolve complex cross-border disputes, leading teams in international arbitration matters across multiple jurisdictions and sectors and English Court commercial litigation. With a particular focus on energy, infrastructure and construction, he regularly represents corporates and sovereigns in high-stakes international disputes, delivering results through strategic guidance and tenacious advocacy. He has been described by clients and peers as “a wonderfully analytical thinker” with “an outstanding grasp of both the legal and commercial dimensions of disputes.”

With more than 20 years of experience, Charlie represents corporates and sovereigns in high-stakes and complex international disputes worldwide, acting as first chair advocate on bet-the-company cases. He has represented clients in international commercial arbitrations under the rules of all major institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, AAA/ICDR and DIS. He is a Solicitor-Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience in the English High Court.

Charlie works closely with clients from the earliest stage of the dispute process through to conclusion of the matter, formulating strategy and delivering powerful advocacy to help clients achieve their commercial objectives. Charlie has particular experience representing companies and sovereigns in the energy, infrastructure and construction sectors in high-value arbitrations arising under joint venture agreements, production sharing contracts and EPC contracts. He also has experience with a wide variety of other sectors, including finance, media, automotive and insurance.
