 Charity Kirby is a Senior Associate in King & Spalding’s London office, with a practice spanning High Court litigation and commercial arbitration. Charity acts for clients involved in proceedings in a variety of forums, whether before the English High Court, the English Court of Appeal or Arbitral Tribunals under major international arbitration rules (ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICSID, Premier League Rules) and in London based ad-hoc arbitrations. 

Charity’s broad practice involves representing clients in a range of industries. In recent years her clients have most frequently operated in the energy sector, financial services and, increasingly, the sports industry. Charity regularly handles complex disputes, requiring innovative solutions to novel legal issues. Recent experience includes claims in fraud, enforcement action, injunctive relief, breach of contract and sporting governing body rule infringements.   

Charity is one of King & Spalding’s representatives on the panel for the Professional Tennis Players’ Association’s Athlete Counsel & Equity (ACE) Program. Through the ACE Program, Charity provides pro bono legal support to tennis players facing complex legal challenges, especially anti-doping and anti-corruption issues.

One of the first graduates of the London office’s training contract program, Charity has spent the entirety of her legal career with King & Spalding, including a secondment to an investment bank in 2021.

Representing an international oil and gas company in proceedings before the English High Court and the Court of Appeal regarding claims connected to a production sharing contract in Iraq.

Acting in an ad-hoc arbitration, seated in London, focusing on illegality and piercing the corporate veil in a case related to the shipping industry.

Acting for the investor in the enforcement of a $1.2 billion award rendered pursuant to a bilateral investment treaty.
