• Represented one of the world’s largest pulp and paper companies in three parallel, multibillion-dollar ICC arbitrations and related court proceedings arising from an M&A transaction in Brazil. The dispute is regarded as the largest corporate dispute in Brazil's history.
• Represented a Brazilian shareholder in five consolidated London-seated LCIA arbitrations and related court proceedings in a multijurisdictional shareholder dispute concerning companies in the finance and real estate sectors.
• Represented a Cypriot investor in an ICSID arbitration against Armenia arising out of an investment in the mining sector.
• Represented a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer in a New York-seated ICDR arbitration against a U.S. aircraft manufacturer involving the termination of a multibillion-dollar merger agreement and a major joint venture agreement governed by New York law.
• Represented a global biotechnology company in a London-seated ICC arbitration arising under a co-development, co-commercialization, and co-manufacturing agreement.
• Represented a U.S. biopharmaceutical company in a multijurisdictional dispute against a Brazilian biopharmaceutical company involving breach of contract claims under New York law pursued simultaneously in the United States and Brazil.
• Represented a French reinsurance company in a major dispute seated in Paris and governed by French law.
• Represented a U.S. private equity firm in a multijurisdictional dispute involving numerous arbitrations and court actions related to the annulment of a share purchase agreement.
• Represented a European construction company in a multi-party construction arbitration against Brazilian and European construction companies concerning one of the arenas built for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
• Represented a Korean heavy machinery manufacturer in an international arbitration and subsequent enforcement proceedings against a Brazilian distributor.
• Represented a U.S. buyer in the water and hygiene industry in a post-acquisition arbitration against a Brazilian seller involving non-compete and earnout disputes.
• Represented a Mexican conglomerate in proceedings arising from the termination of a proposed merger and sale transaction involving a Brazilian entertainment company.
• Represented multiple renewable energy companies in disputes concerning governmental permitting, regulatory, and financing issues.

Caio Pazinato represents companies and investors in high-stakes international commercial and investment treaty disputes. He leverages his experience in both civil and common law systems to help clients navigate complex cross-border disputes across jurisdictions, arbitral institutions, and industries. Caio has extensive experience in matters involving Latin America and Brazil.

Dual-qualified in New York and Brazil, Caio bridges different legal systems to seamlessly guide clients through their most important disputes. He has counseled clients through several bet-the-company matters, including some of the largest disputes involving Brazilian parties, seated both in and outside Brazil.

With extensive experience in disputes involving M&A transactions (both pre- and post-closing), shareholders agreements, collaboration and joint venture agreements, and long-term commercial contracts, his matters frequently involve multi-party and multi-contract arbitrations, parallel proceedings, multiple legal systems, novel legal issues, and a variety of applicable laws.  Caio also has experience under a broad range of institutional rules, including the ICC, ICSID, AAA/ICDR, LCIA, CAM-CCBC, CIESP/FIESP and CAM-AMCHAM.

Caio advises clients throughout all stages of the dispute resolution process, from pre-dispute strategy through enforcement, and has particular experience representing clients in the life sciences, aerospace, and manufacturing sectors. In addition to arbitration, he advises clients on complex international litigation matters and government investigations.

Caio is actively engaged in the international arbitration community through regular speaking engagements and publications.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Caio practiced in the international arbitration groups of two leading international law firms in New York and in the arbitration and litigation department of a leading law firm in Brazil.
