People

Benjamin (“Ben”) Torres is a litigation associate whose work is primarily focused on defending national medical device manufacturers involved in mass tort product liability litigation.  In addition to individual case workup and trial work, Ben participates in strategic counseling and settlement negotiations with regard to mass inventories of claims.  Ben’s litigation practice is diverse.  He also assists, for example, automobile manufacturers defending mass tort claims, an agrochemical company involved in a multi-district litigation as part of its national settlement team, a national airliner in a consolidated premises liability action, and he helps represent the radio industry in licensing disputes.  

At King & Spalding, Ben is a member of the Latinx and LGBTQ+ Affinity Groups.  He is a leader in the Atlanta legal community.  He currently serves as Vice President/President Elect for the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia.  In 2022, Ben won the State Bar of Georgia's One-to-Watch Award for his commitment to diversity, equity and social justice in the legal profession.

Ben is committed to pro bono work.  He works with the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization with the goal of ending suicide among LGBTQ+ youth, with ongoing projects.  Working alongside Atlanta Legal Aid, Ben also assists indigent transgender clients with official name change proceedings in Georgia state court. 

Ben was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Milton, Georgia.  He graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he served as the Executive Online Editor of the Georgia Law Review, was an award-winning member of the moot court team, and he externed with the Georgia Office of the Attorney General.
