Akash represents health care clients in litigation and government investigations. He has extensive experience representing health care providers in managed care litigation and False Claims Act matters. Akash's practice is informed by six years of government enforcement experience, five of which were as an Assistant United States Attorney in Atlanta investigating, litigating, and trying False Claims Act cases.
As an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Georgia, Akash litigated and investigated cases involving kickbacks, medically unnecessary services, and violations of federal cybersecurity requirements. He also co-tried a False Claims Act case to a favorable jury verdict resulting in a $27 million judgment against a Georgia doctor and his medical practice.
Akash also possesses enforcement experience in the consumer financial services sector. He was formerly a Senior Litigation Counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where he litigated and investigated violations of federal consumer financial law. His experience included investigating the data security practices of a large financial services provider that experienced a data breach and litigating a complex action alongside several State Attorney General Offices against a debt relief provider.
Earlier in private practice, Akash worked at two global law firms litigating complex intellectual property and commercial litigation matters in federal and state venues across the country.
Akash received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he was on the editorial board of the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law and a Moot Court Board member. He also received his LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science with high honors from the University of Rochester.
