Yiran (Aaron) Xu, Ph.D. is a patent agent on the Intellectual Property team focusing on litigation, Patent Office proceedings, advising clients, and general patent prosecution matters. His electrical and computer engineering training has endowed him with diverse knowledge in many technical fields, with specialization in LTE/5G wireless systems, satellite communication, video coding and communication, cloud storage system, machine learning, FinTech, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Xu was a technical advisor at a prestigious IP boutique law firm, where he focused on drafting patent application and prosecution for domestic and international clients.

Previously, Dr. Xu was a senior research scientist and wireless system engineer at a data fusion technology company, where he participated in both R&D efforts as well as software development and optimization. He initiated multiple interdisciplinary projects involving 5G technologies, aerospace engineering, cyber security, machine learning, and computer technology.

Throughout Dr. Xu's research career, he has drafted multiple successfully funded grant proposals and published over 15 publications on IEEE journals and flagship conferences. In addition, Dr. Xu has served as a technical program chair and committee member for IEEE and SPIE conferences.
