Bio

William (Bill) Sauers represents clients on high-stakes environmental matters, investigations, and technical matters. Bill represents domestic and international clients in a wide range of environmental enforcement, litigation, and compliance matters, including several of the largest recent enforcement matters before the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the Department of Justice (DOJ) and other federal and state agencies.    

He has extensive experience handling agency-facing issues and negotiations as well as the internal investigations, information gathering, and strategy considerations faced by companies when addressing compliance issues, including consideration of civil litigation, criminal, and other regulatory and international issues that often arise in environmental enforcement matters.  His recent matters include representation of auto manufacturers in enforcement matters related to compliance with the Clean Air Act, representation of nonroad engine and equipment manufactures before federal and state agencies, and representation of aftermarket parts suppliers and distributors in connection with EPA and CARB enforcement.
