Jackie Glassman is a "distinguished automotive sector regulatory lawyer" who clients describe as "absolutely terrific -- she maintains great relationships with authorities, commands respect and is a pleasure to work with.” Jackie supports automotive and technology companies in navigating and negotiating regulatory and legislative matters, and developing strategies to promote business objectives. As an adept crisis manager, she has worked with numerous manufacturers in mitigating the risk of and responding to consumer crises. Jackie is the Co-Head of the firm's Automotive Initiative and a leader of the firm's Transportation, Mobility & Logistics practice.

As a problem solver, Jackie brings her experience from private practice, government and as in-house counsel. From 2002-2006, Jackie served as the Acting Administration and Chief Counsel of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an agency within the United States Department of Transportation.  Jackie excels at assisting clients through regulatory challenges with enhanced agency relations and a minimum of corporate pain.

Before her service at NHTSA, Jackie was a senior lawyer with Chrysler Corporation and DaimlerChrysler Corporation, handling in addition to safety issues also an array of litigation and dealer franchise matters. While with NHTSA, Jackie helped oversee the implementation of the TREAD Act and Early Warning Program. She also spearheaded the re-institution and reform of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) program, working closely with the White House and Congress, and was involved in the enactment of various new safety measures within the Transportation Reauthorization Act.

Jackie has worked with companies through safety compliance and defect enforcement matters, responding to consumer-related crises and managing the associated public relations, legislative policy initiatives and rulemakings, liability and litigation mitigation strategies, and building both domestic and global corporate safety programs. Jackie represented numerous automotive companies in the development and early implementation of the One National Program, creating a largely uniform system for the EPA greenhouse gas and NHTSA fuel economy programs.

With the advent of Autonomous Vehicles and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Jackie's practice now additionally includes working with automotive, trucking, technology and new mobility providers as they develop and implement new services and products. This includes strategic business structuring and legal analysis, compliance reviews and negotiations with policy makers and regulators.

Jackie regularly speaks on the evolution of law, policy and regulation with regard to autonomous vehicles, ADAS and new forms of mobility. Jackie has been top ranked (Band 1) in Chambers & Partners in the Automotive Regulatory section 2008-2020. She has named a Leading Lawyer in the Legal 500 for Transportation. In 2018, King & Spalding’s practice was named the Automotive Practice Group of the Year by Law360.
