Phyllis Sumner, Nick Oldham Named to Cybersecurity Docket’s Incident Response 30

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 1, 2016 — Cybersecurity Docket has named Phyllis Sumner and Nick Oldham to its Incident Response 30, the publication’s list of “the 30 best and brightest Incident Response attorneys” in the United States.

Cybersecurity Docket is a publication devoted to cybersecurity, data breach and incident response. This is the inaugural year for its Incident Response 30 ranking, and the publication chose winners based on nominations and input from the cybersecurity community.

Sumner, a partner based in Atlanta, leads King & Spalding’s Data, Privacy & Security Practice, which spans the firm’s domestic and global offices. She regularly counsels corporate boards, senior executives and other clients on data breach prevention, emergency response, remediation, compliance, regulatory enforcement, internal corporate investigations and other data security issues of critical concern to leading companies worldwide. Sumner also represents clients who become defendants in class actions as the result of data breaches and in other complex litigation matters involving the Fair Credit Reporting Act, False Claims Act, RICO, securities and fraud. Sumner served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, first in the Northern District of Illinois (Chicago) and then in the Northern District of Georgia (Atlanta). She was named a Law360 MVP in 2014.

Oldham, a counsel who is based in Washington, D.C., is a core member of King & Spalding’s Data, Privacy & Security practice. He has guided a number of clients through data breaches, and has represented clients in all of the work flows arising from data breaches including law enforcement and card brand engagement, domestic and international notifications, domestic and international regulatory matters, and class action litigation. Oldham also frequently counsels clients on cybersecurity and privacy governance and pre-breach planning. A former federal criminal prosecutor, Oldham spent more than seven years with the Department of Justice, where he handled several high-profile cyber investigations and prosecutions. He served as Counsel for Cyber Investigations for the DOJ’s National Security Division and was also an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Atlanta.

Sumner and Oldham were honored at a ceremony March 31 in Washington, D.C.
