PARIS, July 5, 2018 — King & Spalding has added Laurent Bensaid and Laurent Jaeger as partners in its Paris office. Bensaid joins the firm’s Corporate, Finance & Investments practice group to serve as an anchor of the EMEA corporate team in Paris, working with colleagues on transactions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Jaeger is an international arbitration and litigation expert who joins the firm’s Trial & Global Disputes practice group to bolster the firm’s commercial arbitration bench.
Bensaid’s practice involves a range of transactions for French and international corporations, including public and private M&A, as well as IPOs and other capital markets deals. He also represents French private equity firms in LBOs, dispositions and public-to-private deals. Bensaid was previously an M&A partner at Hoche Avocats and a senior associate at Sullivan & Cromwell in Paris.
“The breadth of Laurent’s practice, covering both public and private M&A and capital markets transactions, is going to boost our ability to serve the corporate needs of a wide set of clients,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Investments practice group. “He has acted on headline deals for some of France’s largest businesses and has a stellar portfolio of both corporate and capital markets transactions. We are excited to welcome him to the firm.”
Jaeger represents major French and international clients in the energy, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, real estate construction and automotive manufacturing sectors, and has acted as counsel in more than 100 arbitrations.
Jaeger, who was previously a partner at Orrick, is ranked in Chambers’ Europe and Global guides. He is the second disputes partner to join the Paris office following last month’s addition of Marc-Olivier Langlois from Hughes Hubbard (more here).
“Laurent’s experience in sophisticated commercial and investment-related international arbitration proceedings provide us with another exceptional resource in Paris,” said Edward Kehoe, co-head of the firm’s International Arbitration and Litigation practice. “His local and global experience, particularly in the energy sector, are another excellent enhancement for our existing practice.”
“We are pleased to have added three highly-regarded partners to the office during the past month, which reinforces our disputes and transactional capabilities,” said Benoit Marcilhacy, managing partner of the Paris office.
