King & Spalding Recruits International Trade Partner in Brussels

GENEVA and PARIS, 03 June, 2019 – King & Spalding announced today that international trade specialist Marie-Sophie Dibling has joined the firm as a partner in its International Trade Group. She will be resident in Brussels and will collaborate closely with the firm’s offices in Geneva, Paris, Frankfurt, London and Washington, D.C.

Dibling advises and represents clients on trade issues involving the European Union (EU) including trade remedy investigations of unfairly traded imports. She also counsels EU companies targeted by third-country trade remedy investigations. In addition to trade remedies, Dibling  focuses on helping clients navigate trade policy and market access issues such as free trade agreements and trade barriers. She has acted for clients in a variety of industries including agricultural products, metals, wood and paper, textiles and renewable energies.

“Marie-Sophie has an established pedigree in advising an array of clients on complex EU-related international trade matters and represents a valuable addition to the team for cross-border advice,” said Steve Orava, chair of the firm’s International Trade group. “The international trade market is becoming ever-more sophisticated, requiring in-depth expertise to navigate agreements, regulations and tariffs, so lawyers of Marie-Sophie’s standing enhance our ability to assist clients around the world.”

Dibling, who also has extensive experience in Morocco, was most recently a partner at Fidal, where she led the International Trade practice. She has a Master’s degree in International Economic Law from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a diploma from Université Saint-Louis in Brussels.

“Marie-Sophie will be a great asset to the firm in Europe, the U.S. and beyond. Given the significance of Brussels as the headquarters of the EU, her presence there provides our clients and colleagues proximity to key decision-makers and policy deliberations,” added Daniel Crosby, office managing partner in Geneva. “Marie-Sophie’s knowledge of EU and international trade law opens the door to even more collaborative work across the whole firm.”

King & Spalding’s International Trade team assists major manufacturers and service providers in advancing their business interests and advises sovereign and industry clients in securing their trade and investment objectives through a range of international trade regulatory, dispute settlement, litigation, policy, and enforcement mechanisms. The firm’s international team, which includes former government and WTO officials, trade remedy accounting and data specialists, and foreign legal consultants, practices before the full range of governmental and international bodies.
