Jennifer Recine, Sarmad Khojasteh and David Kupfer Boost the Firm’s Offerings in Real Estate Litigation and Complex Commercial Litigation

New York, April 2, 2024 – King & Spalding announced today that Jennifer Recine, Sarmad Khojasteh and David Kupfer have joined the firm’s Business Litigation practice group as partners. They are based in the firm’s New York office.

“Jennifer, Sarmad and David are formidable litigators who have grown impressive practices in real estate litigation and a wide variety of other complex commercial litigation,” said Damien Marshall, co-chair of the firm’s Business Litigation practice group. “There are strong synergies between their practices and ours that will enable us to together deepen many client relationships across our platform and continue to expand our litigation practice.”

Recine, Khojasteh and Kupfer join the firm from Kasowitz Benson Torres, where they practiced together as partners.

Jennifer Recine

Recine served as co-chair of the real estate litigation practice at Kasowitz. She is a first-chair trial lawyer with experience handling complex commercial, real estate, land use and environmental disputes involving the investment, development, construction and sale of billions of dollars in real estate assets and infrastructure projects. She represents private corporations and partnerships, publicly traded companies, political bodies, state and municipal governments and high-net-worth individuals. She also has extensive experience handling civil RICO and other securities actions, professional malpractice, tax and other high-stakes matters. She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont.

Sarmad Khojasteh

Khojasteh’s practice focuses on the resolution of complex business disputes over a broad range of substantive areas, including securities and credit-related matters, commercial and contract disputes, corporate governance issues, and general commercial disputes. He regularly practices before federal and state courts throughout the nation. His clients include public and private companies, private equity and other investment firms, partnerships and individuals in industries including financial services, real estate, pharmaceuticals, insurance, media, technology and manufacturing. He received his J.D. from the University of Chicago School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Colgate University.

David Kupfer

Kupfer is a trial lawyer with extensive experience litigating complex commercial disputes and representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal matters and regulatory investigations. David has represented financial institutions, life sciences and technology firms, venture and private equity funds and real estate firms in bankruptcy, state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration. He received his J.D. from Fordham Law School and his undergraduate degree from Touro College.

“David, Sarmad and I are excited to bring our practices to King & Spalding. The firm’s culture of collaboration and strong strategic focus on continuing to expand its litigation practice fit well with our desire to grow what we each do and be part of something bigger,” Recine said.

“The platform at King & Spalding gives us the opportunity to significantly scale what we can do for our clients,” Khojasteh added.
