WASHINGTON, D.C., March 16, 2021 – King & Spalding has recruited international arbitration lawyer Kenneth D. Beale as a partner in the firm’s Trial & Global Disputes Practice in London. He will relocate to Washington, D.C., in the fall.
Beale advises on commercial and investor-state arbitrations before leading arbitral institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, SCC, VIAC, and HKIAC, as well as in matters under the UNCITRAL Rules. He has first-chaired numerous significant international arbitration hearings and has particular experience with disputes in the oil and gas, financial services, telecommunications, energy and manufacturing sectors, as well as with breach of contract, joint venture, and post-M&A disputes, advising on more than 100 high-stakes arbitrations throughout the world.
Beale joins from Boies Schiller Flexner, where he was the Administrative Partner for the London office. He follows other announced hires in California (more here), New York (more here) and Washington D.C. (more here).
“Ken is an ideal fit for our firm, with incredibly strong links with K&S colleagues in the U.S. while also slotting in perfectly with our leading international arbitration platform,” said Andy Bayman, chair of the firm’s Trial & Global Disputes Practice. “His experience in international disputes, especially in strategic areas such as energy and financial services, make him a key addition to our disputes practice and the firm as a whole.”
Beale, who is ranked in Chambers & Partners, has taught international arbitration as an adjunct professor of law at numerous universities, most recently at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
“King & Spalding has a momentum and trajectory as a firm that make it the place to be,” said Beale. “K&S is the global market leader for international arbitration, and I have known and respected many of the firm’s partners and am excited to work with them to solve our clients’ most difficult challenges and needs.”
