Appeals Court Rejects Kaiser Health Plan’s Attempt to Throw Out $105 Million Judgment


King & Spalding obtained a victory on behalf of Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, persuading the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District to uphold a $105 million jury verdict against Kaiser Health Plan.

The Court of Appeals affirmed the jury decision’s that the 427-bed non-profit hospital serving Eastern Los Angeles and Western San Bernardino counties was entitled to reasonable and customary reimbursement from Kaiser for out-of-network emergency and post-stabilization services provided to its members.
