Senior Advisor Kendrick Meek served as moderator for a panel conversation entitled, Mothers of the Movement: The Journey from Tragedy to Activism panel at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 53rd Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC.  The panel focused on the need to focus on assessing and preventing the unintended consequences of laws and policies that disproportionately affect communities of color.  Former Congressman Meek (D-FL) was joined on the panel by nationally recognized trial lawyer, Benjamin Crump; Sybrina Fulton, mother of Trayvon Martin; Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner; Wanda Jones, mother of Ahmaud Arbery; Philonise Floyd, brother of George Floyd; Tamika Palmer, mother of Breonna Taylor; RowVaughn Wells, mother of Tyre Nichols; Major Neill Franklin (Ret.), former Executive Director and current Treasurer, Law Enforcement Action Partnership; and Rahn K. Bailey, MD, Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Assistant Dean of Community Engagement at LSU Health Sciences Center- New Orleans.
