This week, the PCAOB announced two upcoming meetings. First, the PCAOB announced that it will hold an open meeting on March 28, 2023, during which it will consider issuing for public comment a proposal for a new auditing standard, AS 1000, General Responsibilities of the Auditor in Conducting an Audit. The new standard, if adopted, would reorganize and consolidate certain standards adopted by the PCAOB on an interim basis in April 2003 that address core responsibilities of the auditor, such as due professional care and professional skepticism. This announcement, which includes dial-in information, is available here.
Second, the PCAOB posted the agenda for its Standards and Emerging Issues Advisory Group meeting, which will take place virtually on March 30, 2023. The agenda includes an overview of comments on Proposed QC 1000, A Firm’s System of Quality Control and Proposed AS 2310, The Auditor’s Use of Confirmation, as well as a post-implementation review of CAMs and Estimates & Specialists, among other items. A copy of the announcement, including Webex meeting log-in instructions, can be found here.
