Robert D. Hays

Robert D. Hays is the fifth firm chair in King & Spalding's more than 140-year history, currently serving his seventh term.  As chair, he focuses on the strategic growth and direction of the firm and building strong relationships with clients. Since he assumed the role in 2006, the firm has transformed from five regional offices into an international law firm with 1,300 lawyers in 26 offices globally.  During this tenure, the firm has experienced 17 consecutive years of revenue growth - reaching $2.68 billion in 2025, a 360% increase since 2006 - and has been named a Top 15 "Global Elite" law firm and "Best Law Firm of the Year" by The American Lawyer.  A nationally recognized trial lawyer, Hays previously led the firm's tort and environmental practice group and served six years as a member of the firm's governing Policy Committee, which he now chairs.
