Milo Palej represents corporates, investors and high-net-worth individuals in high-stakes international disputes, including claims against sovereign states. In more than eight years of practice, he has acted in multiple multi-billion-dollar commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under all major institutional rules and, as a solicitor advocate, in complex litigation before the English courts.
Milo has acted for clients from Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australia in commercial and investment arbitrations arising out of major construction, mining and energy projects, long-term supply arrangements, and shareholder and joint venture disputes. His work has involved disputes governed by a wide range of laws, including English, Singapore, Australian, Indian, UAE, Polish and Thai law. A Polish speaker, he has a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe and regularly advises on cross-border disputes connected with the region.
Milo's arbitration work regularly carries into the English courts, where he has acted in challenges to arbitral awards and in enforcement proceedings. He has also acted for funds, investors and financial institutions in major financial services and insolvency litigation, from disputes over sovereign securities to major restructurings and the ranking of subordinated debt in one of the largest insolvencies in history.
Alongside his practice, Milo teaches comparative law as an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, and regularly speaks and publishes on arbitration-related topics.
He also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on human rights and access to justice and previously sat on the board of a UK charity dedicated to ending female genital mutilation.
