Michael Lynch

Michael Lynch is an energy projects lawyer who focuses on the development, financing and M&A related to cross-border energy and infrastructure projects. Michael has extensive experience across a range of sectors, including renewable power (onshore and offshore wind, solar), oil and gas (LNG and upstream exploration) and conventional power projects (gas and coal-fired).  Michael’s transaction experience has encompassed many jurisdictions across the globe including Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia, Belgium, as well as South Africa, Ghana and the United States. During his more than 15 years in the Tokyo legal market, Michael has completed secondments to Sumitomo Corporation, ENEOS Xplora (formerly known as JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Corp.) and spent several years working as a senior legal counsel at SoftBank Group Corp.

Michael is a solicitor qualified in England and Wales and is a registered Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi (Tokyo Bar Association).  He practiced in the London office of another major US firm for several years before moving to Tokyo. In addition to his energy project related practice, Michael has a great depth of experience working on general corporate transactions.
