• Acting for a major multinational oil and gas exploration company in respect of two multi-billion dollar LCIA arbitrations concerning entitlement to Earn Out Payments.
• Representing the owner of one of the world's largest petrochemical complexes in an arbitration under the ICC Rules.
• Acting for a major manufacturer of medical devices in a class action before the English High Court.
• Acting for an international airline modification company in its claim against a state-owned defence company in a Dubai (onshore) seated arbitration pursuant to the DIFC-LCIA rules.
• Representing a retired global athlete in relation to claims brought in England & Wales for failing to disclose financial assets.
• Securing injunctive relief for a global air charter company in various jurisdictions (Hong Kong, Cayman Islands, BVI, Australia) in order to enforce an English High Court judgment.
• Representing an international swimmer in his claim against World Aquatics (FINA) for failing to discharge its obligations under the FINA Medical Rules.
• Representing an Olympic athlete before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in an appeal brought by WADA seeking to increase the period of ineligibility for an anti-doping rule violation.
• Defending an individual in a civil fraud claim worth in excess of £300 million before the London Commercial Court.
• Representing an international rugby player in an appeal against World Rugby relating to an anti-doping rule violation before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
• Representing a major airline in an application for emergency relief under SIAC rules arising out of various engine failures.
• Advising London 2012 Olympic gold and silver medalists in relation to a claim against the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for failing to reallocate Olympic medals in accordance with the Olympic Medal Reallocation Principles.
• Acting for a European telecommunications operator regarding breaches of its exclusive rights under various Champions League and Premier League media rights agreements.

Liam Petch is an Associate in King & Spalding’s Trial and Global Disputes practice in London. Liam trained with the firm, qualifying in 2022.

Liam’s practice involves commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under leading institutional rules and English High Court litigation.  His work covers a broad range of disputes across jurisdictions and sectors, including financial services, construction, energy, pharma, media and sports.

Prior to qualifying in the London office, Liam spent 6 months in the firm’s Dubai office representing the owner of one of the world's largest petrochemical complexes in an ICC arbitration and advising a number of public and private sector clients on major infrastructure projects.
