  • Represented several businesses in complex class and collective action cases involving claims of violations of federal employment law and state law claims totaling millions of dollars in potential damages.
  • Obtained a “world-wide” injunction against the seller of a multi-million dollar business after it violated its non-competition provision with the buyer.
Bio

John counsels hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers through their most complex reimbursement disputes and government compliance challenges. He brings a unique combination of healthcare regulatory knowledge and high-stakes litigation experience, regularly guiding clients through payment disputes with health plans, False Claims Act investigations, and class and collective actions in federal and state courts.

John regularly represents healthcare organizations in payment litigation and arbitrations against health insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial reimbursement disputes, as well as breach of contract claims. He also defends clients in government investigations, including those initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Beyond healthcare, John has extensive experience handling complex litigations, including class and collective actions at the trial and appellate level. He has successfully prosecuted and defended clients against claims arising under federal and state employment laws, trademark infringement, unfair trade practices, and state law contract and tort theories.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, John clerked for the Honorable Roger L. Couch of the 7th Judicial Circuit of South Carolina. He also worked for the U.S. Department of State at the U.S. Consulate in Leipzig, Germany.
