Christopher Hyner

Christopher Hyner is a senior associate with King & Spalding’s International Trade practice in Washington, D.C. His practice concentrates on trade compliance and customs enforcement matters, including customs prior disclosures, risk assessments, audits, and investigations.  Christopher assists clients with developing trade compliance programs covering topics such as tariff classification, valuation, country of origin determinations, and product qualifications under various free trade agreements including the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).  Christopher also works with clients in various industries with supply chain due diligence and compliance with anti-forced labor laws such as 19 U.S.C. § 1307 and the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). 

Christopher is a U.S. licensed customs broker.  

In addition, Christopher represents clients in trade remedy proceedings, including antidumping and countervailing duty matters, and associated litigation in actions before the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and in World Trade Organization dispute settlement proceedings.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Christopher was a staff attorney at the U.S. Department of Commerce in the Office of Chief Counsel for Trade Enforcement & Compliance. He advised International Trade Administration officials on statutory and regulatory requirements, judicial precedent, and agency practice during the course of antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings and regulatory rulemaking processes. 

Through his work for Commerce, Christopher gained substantial experience working on matters before the U.S. Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the World Trade Organization’s dispute settlement panels.
