Austin Sanders advises clients on intellectual property portfolio development and IP due diligence for corporate and strategic transactions. He helps companies build and manage patent portfolios, capture innovations in complex technologies, and assess patent, IT systems, and data privacy risks in mergers, acquisitions, licensing arrangements, and other business-critical deals.

Austin is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has prepared and prosecuted patent applications through issuance. He works with inventors, engineers, scientists, business stakeholders, and in-house counsel to develop patent assets aligned with commercial objectives. A certified chemist with experience in engineering-focused technologies, Austin helps technical teams identify protectable innovations and guide them through prosecution.

Austin’s technical experience includes nuclear and integrated energy systems, medical radioisotope extraction and purification, mechanical devices, compounded pharmaceuticals, and artificial sweeteners. He leads invention capture sessions to identify patentable developments, document key innovations, and support ongoing research and development efforts.

In addition to patent preparation and prosecution, Austin conducts landscape and competitor analyses, prior art searches, and freedom-to-operate assessments to inform filing strategy and evaluate risk. He helps clients position their intellectual property in view of competitive activity, existing patent rights, and business objectives.
