Steve Snyder is an associate in the Intellectual Property group at King & Spalding’s Charlotte, North Carolina office. His primary practice is concentrated in patent litigation and counseling in the electrical and mechanical arts. Mr. Snyder has participated in a variety of patent litigations involving complex hardware and software matters ranging from cellular telecommunications to medical device technology. In 2009 alone, Mr. Snyder appeared in eleven patent litigations in U.S. District Court and two investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission. He also assists clients with procurement and reexamination of patents, as well as consulting on patent licensing issues. Prior to joining King & Spalding, Mr. Snyder practiced at the intellectual property law firm of Kenyon & Kenyon. Prior to returning to law school in 2000, Mr. Snyder acted as the Chief Technology Officer for an Internet startup in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to that he managed the information systems of an Anchorage, Alaska insurance adjusting firm. Mr. Snyder possesses extensive knowledge relating to computer and mobile handset hardware and software, as well as wireless and network communications protocols. Mr. Snyder graduated from NYU School of Law, with honors, in 2003. He also received a M.S. (1995) and a B.S. (1993) in engineering from Lehigh University.
At NYU School of Law, Mr. Snyder was selected as the Fish and Neave Fellow for the Engelberg Center on Innovation Law and Policy. He also received the Walter J. Derenberg prize for the highest grade in the area of copyright law. Mr. Snyder won First Place in the Nathan Burkan Memorial Copyright Writing Competition sponsored by ASCAP and Honorable Mention in the Foley & Lardner National Intellectual Property Writing Competition.
Mr. Snyder is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is registered to practice law in New York and North Carolina, and admitted to the U.S. District Courts in the Eastern District of New York and Southern District of New York.
