Brian Basinger is an associate in the Special Matters/Government Investigations Practice Group in the Atlanta office of King & Spalding.

Mr. Basinger’s practice focuses on corporate internal investigations, as well as criminal and civil government investigations, chiefly in the area of health care.  Mr. Basinger has represented clients in matters involving the False Claims Act (FCA), the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act (FERA), and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Mr. Basinger has served on the firm's Atlanta Hiring Committee, and is currently the leader of the firm's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender ("LGBT") Affinity Group. In October 2011, he completed a one-year term as President of the Stonewall Bar Association of Georgia, the statewide voluntary bar organization for LGBT legal professionals and their allies.

Prior to law school, Mr. Basinger spent four years as a reporter for a multi-state newspaper chain, writing articles for daily publications in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.  Mr. Basinger’s coverage focused on the Georgia Legislature, the Georgia Supreme Court, and various state governmental agencies, including Natural Resources, Transportation, and Corrections.
