In 2009, King & Spalding opened an office in Paris, one of the world’s leading arbitration markets, to build on the firm’s growing international arbitration practice, which earned the No. 2 spot on Focus Europe’s Arbitration Scorecard. In addition to capitalizing on its historical strength in treaty arbitrations, the practice has expanded into international commercial arbitration, with particular expertise in large, complex disputes in the areas of civil engineering and construction, oil and gas, and information technology and telecommunications.
The Paris office has since expanded its capabilities by adding a French litigation practice as well as market leading teams in French environmental law and real estate and capital markets. The Paris litigation team handles disputes concerning French company law, white-collar crime, competition, contract and product liability matters in civil and criminal courts and has vast experience in matters involving unfair business practices, construction, private and public infrastructure projects and environmental audits. The real estate team advises on all aspects of commercial real estate and real estate finance, including corporate and investment property acquisitions and disposals, sales and leasebacks, acquisition financing, joint ventures as well as complex development deals.
