PALO ALTO, Dec. 15, 2016 — King & Spalding announced today that former Assistant U.S. Attorney Anne Voigts has joined its Silicon Valley office as a partner in the firm’s Appellate, Constitutional and Administrative Law practice.
“Anne’s impressive expertise as a federal prosecutor and her work before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will add significant strength to King & Spalding’s appellate bench and to the firm’s West Coast litigation practice,” said Tim Scott, managing partner of King & Spalding’s Silicon Valley office. “She has already built a strong profile through her years in public service and in private practice, and her extensive experience working on legal issues in a trial-court setting in addition to handling appeals will be helpful to our litigation practice.”
Voigts comes to King & Spalding from the Criminal Appeals Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California. Before that, she worked as a federal prosecutor in the Central District of California. From 2001 to 2005, Voigts was a litigation associate at Munger, Tolles & Olson, where she focused on appellate work. She has argued before the Ninth Circuit more than 50 times, chaired the Ninth Circuit Appellate Lawyer Representatives and was a lead editor and co-author of the Ninth Circuit practice guide.
“I am excited to help grow King & Spalding’s appellate practice on the West Coast and to join its exceptional firmwide appellate team,” said Voigts. “I look forward to contributing to the continued success of this practice and working closely with lawyers across practice groups and offices on critical motions and strategic litigation.”
“Anne is a gifted appellate advocate, brief-writer, and problem-solver. We’re delighted to welcome her to the firm’s National Appellate Practice,” said Jeff Bucholtz, an appellate partner based in Washington, DC.
Voigts earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a Kent Scholar and a Stone Scholar as well as executive articles editor of the law review, and earned her undergraduate degree from Yale University, graduating with distinction. During law school, she served as an extern for then-Judge, now U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. She went on to clerk for Judge Stephen Reinhardt on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for Justice John Paul Stevens on the U.S. Supreme Court.
King & Spalding’s Appellate, Constitutional and Administrative Law Group has broad experience in complex appellate litigation at all levels of the state and federal court systems. Legal 500 named King & Spalding firm of the year for the Supreme Court and Appellate category in 2015, and Law360 named it Appellate Practice Group of the Year in 2014.
