People

Valerie N. Eliasen is an Associate based in King & Spalding’s Chicago office. She is a member of the Corporate, Finance and Investments group. Valerie focuses her practice on restructuring and insolvency related matters and on commercial finance transactions.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Valerie served as a Legal Honors Intern for the Office of Chief Counsel in the Division of Trading and Markets at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Valerie also served as a Legal Extern in the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of Minnesota for Judge William J. Fisher. Prior to law school, Valerie worked for TCF Bank as a Business Intelligence Analyst. There, she performed statistical and data analysis, working closely with the operations, finance, accounting, and lending teams within the Retail Bank.

Valerie received her law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as the Lead Managing and Research Editor on the Journal of Law Science & Technology. Valerie also served as a student attorney in the Family Law Clinic, where she gained in-court experience helping residents with divorce, custody, and other family law related issues. Valerie graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Mathematics from Michigan Technological University. Her concentration was in Actuarial Science, and she earned a minor in Economics. During her time there, Valerie received several Certificates of Merit from the mathematics department as well as the Math Achievement Award.
