Susan J. Borschel is of counsel in King & Spalding's Corporate Finance and Investments practice.  She regularly represents private equity funds and public and private companies of all sizes, including government contractors and developers.  Sue offers deep knowledge and strategic insight on complex real estate, outsourcing, infrastructure and government contracting transactions. She has more than 25 years of legal, operations, and comptroller experience in both private and military matrix organizations.

Sue has regularly served as primary counsel for government contractors in a variety of sectors, including defense, information technology, intelligence, and logistics.  She has advised clients of all sizes, from emerging companies, to some of the largest publicly traded global companies on complex compliance issues, technology licensing and manufacturing, internal investigations, and M&A transactions.  Sue's business and military leadership experience, coupled with her experience managing more than 20 contract administrators for the largest U.S. defense contractor, makes her a strategic client resource. Prior to her work for the major defense contractor, Sue was a commercial real estate attorney supporting clients worldwide for another AmLaw 100 law firm. She has more than 20 years’ experience working on billions of dollars in large real estate and infrastructure portfolio transactions involving the management of numerous outside counsel and internal resources.  Because of her proven business acumen and ability to minimize risks and take a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives, Sue is by-name request to work on real property and government contracting transactions, as well as energy and portfolio acquisition projects.

Sue served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel with nearly 30 years of active and reserve duty in the fields of finance and military intelligence. She served four of her twelve active duty years in France and Germany, and held a variety of senior intelligence and finance positions, including Chief Staff Officer for the National Military Joint Intelligence Center, Senior Military Analyst for the Defense Intelligence Agency, and Deputy Defense Accounting Officer for Fort Belvoir.
