Stuart Isaacs QC has an established reputation as a barrister specialising in arbitration and litigation of a wide range of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on London and Asia. As a partner in our International Arbitration practice, Stuart advises and represents clients in court and arbitration proceedings worldwide. He sits regularly as an arbitrator and as a deputy judge of the English High Court.

In more than 30 years of practice, Stuart has appeared in hundreds of court cases and arbitrations, both in London and around the world. He appears regularly in English superior courts, the European Court of Justice, and in jurisdictions in Asia and the Caribbean. He became a Queen's Counsel in 1991. He has been appointed to numerous arbitration tribunals, and also sits as an accredited mediator. He has been a deputy judge of the High Court in England since 2004. With an almost exclusively international focus, his practice covers the range of heavy commercial disputes, mainly in energy related matters, in which he has acted as counsel for various oil and gas clients and as arbitrator in many arbitrations in the upstream, midstream, LNG and global gas sectors.and enforcement issues in multi-jurisdictional disputes and interlocutory relief such as freezing orders.

Stuart is experienced in international arbitration, particularly in Asia. He represents clients in arbitrations under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC, the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board and under UNCITRAL Rules, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. He is a panel member of many arbitral institutions.

He has been singled out in Chambers UK amongst other things for his legal and technical abilities and “tactical head” and as having a practice of international standing and recommended in Legal 500 2019 for Dispute Resolution as ' possess[ing] a fine legal mind and is articulate, persuasive and extraordinarily efficient'..The first London QC to be authorised by the Singapore Attorney General to practice as a foreign lawyer.
