Sergey Komolov specializes in corporate transactions and finance, both in Russia and abroad. As Managing Partner of our Moscow office and a member of our Corporate, Finance and Investments practice, Sergey represents clients in a variety of complex projects and transactions.
Sergey counsels clients in corporate acquisitions, joint ventures, public and private finance, banking and corporate restructurings, as well as providing general corporate and transactional advice. Counting some of Russia's biggest corporations among his clients, he has been involved in groundbreaking mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and other complex transactions, both in Russia and abroad.
Also experienced in cross-border litigation and arbitration, Sergey has co-managed several high-profile cases in London, New York and other jurisdictions. And with experience in the World Bank's Legal Department, he is knowledgeable about the policies and practices of international financial institutions.
Previously, Sergey was General Counsel to one of Russia's largest banks. In this role, he oversaw complex projects and transactions, including private and syndicated borrowings; bond and note transactions; structured financings; securities and derivative deals; establishment of investment funds; securitizations; and bank mergers.
Before practicing law, Sergey had a distinguished career in the Russian diplomatic service. He has authored numerous articles on legal and political issues for leading international and Russian publications.
Sergey has been recognized by Who's Who Legal: CIS 2010 for Banking, Insolvency and Restructuring. He has also been listed by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe in Corporate and M&A, Russia, in 2009 and 2010. The Legal 500 EMEA has ranked Sergey for Corporate and M&A, Russia, in 2010 and 2013, and for Capital Markets, Russia, from 2005 through 2008. And PLC Which Lawyer? cited Sergey for Capital Markets: Debt and Equity, Russia, for 2008 and 2010.
