People

Pete Robinson is one of the leading business and government relations advisors to Fortune 500 companies seeking to navigate state and federal government and maximize their potential.

Clients benefit from Pete’s government experience, his bipartisan relationships with decisionmakers at all levels of Georgia’s government as well as Georgia’s U.S. Congressional delegation, and his reputation as a top public policy lawyer.

Pete served for 10 years in the Georgia General Assembly, ultimately serving as President Pro-Tem and as Majority Leader of the Georgia Senate. He is the only Senate President Pro-Tem to be nominated for that role by both the Republican and Democratic leaders of the Georgia Senate.

For eight years, Pete also chaired former Governor Nathan Deal’s Judicial Nominating Commission, responsible for reviewing state judiciary candidates for all Georgia trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court.

Pete specializes in shifting clients’ goals out of traditional, defensive-oriented programs into more aggressive, profitable departments that not only protect the company’s unique business model, but also provide the core business with a return on its investment. He counsels clients on the establishment and reorganization of in-house operations, assists with staffing and placement decisions, and assesses public policy needs.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Pete was co-founder and Chairman of Troutman Sanders Strategies, a national full-service federal, state and local lobbying/issue management firm, and a partner in Troutman Sanders LLP.
