Matt Nichols focuses his practice on infrastructure finance.  His experience covers the full range of infrastructure financings, including leveraged finance, direct placements, syndicated private placements and municipal bond offerings.  He advises lenders, underwriters, issuers and sponsors in financings for the energy, utilities, transportation, health care and higher education sectors, and also represents both public and private sector participants in public-private infrastructure projects.

In the municipal market, Matt's clients include hospital systems, colleges and universities, state agencies and large local governments, which he counsels in connection with all aspects of their financings, including publicly offered bond issues, taxable and tax-exempt loans, derivatives and other market products.  He also advises these clients with ongoing compliance issues and has represented issuers before the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission.  He actively represents a number of commercial and investment banks in their lending and underwriting activities for nonprofit healthcare providers, cooperative electric power companies and public power agencies, and large local governments.  He also works with private sector parties in public-private partnerships and joint ventures and other transactions centered around government-owned, privately financed and operated infrastructure and development projects, including student housing, stadiums and hotels.

Matt is a fellow in the American College of Bond Counsel, where he currently serves on the Membership Committee.
