Mario Leissner is founder and Managing Partner of our Frankfurt office. With 22 years of experience, his practice focuses on investment fund structuring, regulatory law, and international and German real estate transactions. A former General Counsel of the market-leading German institutional real estate fund sponsor OIK, Mario heads our Real Estate and Capital Markets practices in Germany. The immobilienmanager has named him to its Walk of Fame of the 100 most influential heads of the German real estate industry.

Mario represents the vast majority of German capital investment companies, or KVG, focused on real assets; a variety of international investment fund managers, or AIFM; open-ended and closed-ended investment funds, or AIF; international and German asset managers; institutional real estate investors; and custodians. He assists these clients with their legal and regulatory structuring, in all aspects of their worldwide acquisitions and sales, and in major litigations.

Further, Mario works for non-German and non-European investors making inbound investments in German and European real estate. His practice also involves the corporate, financing and taxation aspects of his clients' activities.

Mario has been recognized by Chambers, Legal 500, JUVE and other business law publications as a leader in both investment funds and real estate law. HandelsblattBest Lawyers and Who’s Who Legal list him among Germany’s best lawyers. In 2019 and 2014, his practice was the only law firm to win the renowned immobilienmanager Award, given by the real estate industry. Additionally, Mario's practice has been nominated two consecutive times for the Real Estate Law Firm of the Year JUVE Award.
