Leia Clement Shermohammed is an associate in the Corporate, Finance and Investments practice in the firm's Atlanta office.  Leia’s practice focuses on representing debtors, lenders, and purchasers in chapter 11 reorganization cases.  Leia also frequently represents lenders and agents in connection with complex workouts, restructurings, and bankruptcy matters as well as buyers and sellers in connection with distressed merger and acquisition transactions.  Leia’s practice spans a number of industries, including the restaurant, hospitality, energy, manufacturing, real estate, and healthcare industries.

Leia devotes significant time to the restructuring professional community as a director of the Atlanta Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (NextGen), as a Notes and Comments Advisory Committee Member of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal, as an Associate of the W. Homer Drake, Jr. Georgia Bankruptcy American Inn of Court, and as a member of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Atlanta Bar Association (Bankruptcy Section) and the State Bar of Georgia (Bankruptcy Section).  Leia also speaks on a variety of bankruptcy-related topics, has authored and co-authored numerous articles, and is a guest lecturer at Emory University School of Law. 

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Leia served as law clerk to Chief Judge C. Ray Mullins of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia and Judge Mary Grace Diehl of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
