John Whittaker represents hospitals and healthcare providers in civil actions and arbitrations. John has substantial experience in representing healthcare providers in managed care litigation with health plans involving a wide range of disputes, including breach of contract, reimbursement of non-contracted emergency services, line item denials, and level of care downgrades. He has also represented healthcare clients in actions involving claims for unfair competition, fraud, and claims brought under the California Insurance Frauds Prevention Act.

John currently serves as the Chair of the Health Law Committee of the California Lawyers Association, Business Law Section, and previously served as Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Health Law Committee. He is also a member of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys and a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

John received his J.D. from UC Davis School of Law. While in law school, John served as an extern for the Honorable Lawrence K. Karlton, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California. John received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
