Isabel is an associate in the firm’s International Arbitration Group, based in the Paris office.  Her practice focuses on international arbitration and public international law.

She has experience in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under the ICSID, LCIA, UNCITRAL, and SCC Rules. She also has experience in human rights law, international environmental law, and other areas of public international law.

Isabel is a dual Spanish-Filipino national and is admitted to the bars of New York, Paris and Madrid.

Isabel is a member of the ICC's Task Force on Arbitration of Climate Change Related Disputes.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Isabel worked as a Research Assistant at the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), where she assisted on multiple commercial arbitrations and monitored all requests for joinder, consolidation of proceedings, emergency arbitrator, and challenges against arbitrators.

Isabel worked as a Policy Advisor at the Permanent Mission of Spain to the United Nations in New York, during Spain’s two-year membership of the UN Security Council (2015-2016).  In that capacity Isabel drafted and negotiated Security Council resolutions and other documents on issues such as peacekeeping operations or sanctions regimes. She had a specific focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and Afghanistan.

After her LL.M., Isabel served as a Legal Consultant at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington D.C., where she worked for the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression.  In that capacity she drafted reports on the merits in human rights violations cases, one of which is currently before the Inter-American Court.

Isabel received her LL.B. (First Class Honors) from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE), and holds an LL.M. from Boston University School of Law as well as a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice from Universidad Carlos III.  She speaks English, Spanish, French, and conversational Portuguese, and is a member of the bars of New York, Paris and Madrid.
