Glen Reed is one of the founders of the Healthcare practice at King & Spalding and a national leader in the healthcare bar. He is a legal, business and strategic advisor for senior managers and general counsel. As a partner in our Healthcare practice, Glen provides general representation of healthcare systems and handles specialized projects involving a wide variety of healthcare industry matters.
Glen has helped to create a Healthcare practice that was ranked number one in the country by the American Health Lawyers Association in 2019 and 11 other times beginning in 2007. In 2018 the Healthcare practice was ranked as one of the two top healthcare practices nationally by Chambers USA, and won the Chambers USA Award for Excellence in healthcare. In 2018 and 2019 the Healthcare practice was named a Practice Group of the Year by Law360, and in 2019 it was ranked as one of the two top healthcare practices nationally by The Legal500. Glen also has served as President of the AHLA.
Glen represents healthcare systems, provider organizations, sellers of healthcare products and related entities. He frequently advises clients on such matters as compliance planning and monitoring; healthcare industry restructuring; responses to investigations; new service development; antitrust compliance; and the development of clinically integrated organizations.
Glen has highly specialized expertise in commercial managed care, helping provider organizations to achieve more favorable contractual relationships with payors and enforcing payor/provider contracts. He also assists clients with compliance self-assessments and remedial actions; physician compensation compliance; and the addition of existing hospitals to nonprofit health systems.
A frequent lecturer on a range of healthcare industry legal matters, Glen has been consistently recognized by international, national and local industry publications. These include Super Lawyers: Georgia, Georgia Trend Magazine: Legal Elite, The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Legal Media Group's Guide to the Leading U.S. Healthcare Lawyers, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
Glen was among only 32 Healthcare lawyers included in the Legal Media Group's Best of the Best USA in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2016. The Best Lawyers in America also named him Atlanta Healthcare Lawyer of the Year in 2010. Glen received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fulton County Daily Report in 2018.
Glen served for six years as chair of the annual seminar Fundamentals of Healthcare Law. From this experience he founded our firm's annual Health Law and Policy Forum, now in its 29th year. He also served as Co-chair of the first two American Health Lawyers Association conferences on healthcare reform in 2010. Glen has been active in civic matters, serving on the board of MAP International, and having served as a founding board member and a board chair of MedShare International, and as a board chair of Visiting Nurse Health System and the Atlanta Alliance on Developmental Disabilities.
