Floyd Newton is a partner in the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Investments practice group, and focuses on infrastructure finance, leveraged finance and healthcare finance, particularly in the healthcare, higher education and energy sectors. Floyd represents underwriters and other financial institutions and borrowers in a range of public finance, infrastructure finance and leveraged finance transactions, including especially on healthcare, higher education, energy and other transactions, generally acting as bond counsel or as underwriter's counsel.
Floyd also serves as special tax counsel on public finance transactions, and represents issuers and borrowers in connection with Internal Revenue Service and Securities and Exchange Commission examinations and investigations. Clients include underwriters, banks and other financial institutions, healthcare systems, institutions of higher education, power companies, airlines and similar entities.
A member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers, as well as a former President and Board Member, Floyd has been recognized annually by The Best Lawyers in America, Georgia’s Top-Rated Lawyers, Best Lawyers: Georgia and Super Lawyers. He has also been listed in Who’s Who. He regularly acts as a panelist or speaks at meetings of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
