Bethany Rupert is a senior associate in the Special Matters/Government Investigations Practice Group in King & Spalding’s Atlanta office.  Ms. Rupert represents both corporations and individuals involved in federal or state government investigations – whether civil or criminal – as well as related complex civil litigation.  Ms. Rupert advises different industries on how to navigate compliance with a wide range of federal regulations through internal corporate investigations.  Ms. Rupert has particular expertise in False Claims Act investigations and qui tam litigation, particularly those alleging fraud against healthcare companies.  Ms. Rupert also has extensive experience in advising different industries regarding data privacy and cyber security regulations and best practices for keeping data secure, responding to data breaches, and complying with U.S. privacy laws.  Ms. Rupert has defended a wide-range of corporations and individuals under investigation by the DOJ, SEC, FDA, HHS, and EPA, among other federal and state government agencies.

Ms. Rupert joined the law firm after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Alice M. Batchelder of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ms. Rupert received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law, where she served as Articles Editor of the George Mason University Civil Rights Law Journal and as a Writing Fellow for the law school’s Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis Program.  Ms. Rupert also served on the law school’s Moot Court Board, where she won best brief and was awarded as a finalist in the National Religious Freedom Moot Court Competition.  During law school, Ms. Rupert worked as a law clerk for a pro bono law firm handling False Claims Act litigation and federal and state regulatory matters.  She also served as an intern to the Honorable Lawrence J. Block of the United States Court of Federal Claims.
