Bethany Rupert is an associate in the Special Matters/Government Investigations Practice Group in King & Spalding’s Atlanta office.  Her practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations and corporate compliance reviews, and related complex civil litigation.  She has significant experience with both federal and state False Claims Act litigation, as well as Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) litigation.  Ms. Rupert has defended companies under investigation by the DOJ, SEC, EPA, and FDA, among other government agencies.  She also is a regular contributor and editor for the firm’s Data Privacy and Security practice report.

Ms. Rupert joined the law firm after serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Alice M. Batchelder of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ms. Rupert received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law, where she served as Articles Editor of the George Mason University Civil Rights Law Journal and as a Writing Fellow for the law school’s Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis Program.  Ms. Rupert also served on the law school’s Moot Court Board, where she won best brief and was awarded as a finalist in the National Religious Freedom Moot Court Competition.  During law school, Ms. Rupert worked as a law clerk for a pro bono law firm handling False Claims Act litigation and federal and state regulatory matters.  She also served as an intern to the Honorable Lawrence J. Block of the United States Court of Federal Claims.
