Leveraged Finance Financial Services

Benton Merkel is an attorney in King & Spalding's Corporate, Finance and Investments group in Chicago.  Benton focuses his practice on commercial finance deals, including corporate lending transactions, leveraged acquisitions, specialty financings and other debt investments.

Benton represents financial institutions, lenders, sponsors, borrowers and arranger in domestic and cross-border debt financings; first and second lien financings; unitranche and mezzanine financings; acquisition financings; and other secured and unsecured lending transactions.

While in law school, Benton served as the Executive Editor for the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies.  Prior to law school, Benton served as an officer in the 82nd Airborne Division, deploying to Afghanistan from 2007 to 2008.  Benton continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps.
