Stuart Isaacs QC has an established reputation as a barrister specialising in arbitration and litigation of a wide range of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on London and Asia. As a partner in our International Arbitration practice, Stuart advises and represents clients in court and arbitration proceedings worldwide. He sits regularly as an arbitrator and as a deputy judge of the English High Court.

In more than 30 years of practice, Stuart has appeared in hundreds of court cases and arbitrations, both in London and around the world. He appears regularly in English superior courts, the European Court of Justice, and in jurisdictions in Asia and the Caribbean. He became a Queen's Counsel in 1991. He has been appointed to numerous arbitration tribunals, and also sits as an accredited mediator. He has been a deputy judge of the High Court in England since 2004.

With an almost exclusively international focus, his practice covers the range of heavy commercial disputes, including energy, trade, banking, insurance, shipping and civil fraud, and involves private international law and enforcement issues in multi-jurisdictional disputes and interlocutory relief such as freezing orders.

Stuart is experienced in international arbitration, particularly in Asia. He represents clients in arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce, the London Court of International Arbitration, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board and the UN Commission on International Trade Law, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations. He is a panel member of many arbitral institutions.

The first London QC to be authorised by the Singapore Attorney General to practice as a foreign lawyer, Stuart is ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global 2017 for International Arbitration: Most In-Demand Arbitrators, Asia-Pacific Region.
