USMCA – Lessons Learned After the First Year: Origin, Labor, Autos, & Energy

A year after the entry into force of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), companies are learning how USMCA can provide opportunities and present risk for U.S.-Mexico cross-border business. This webinar will review some of the most significant developments over the past year as well as emerging issues that will affect companies going forward. These include the implementation of country-of-origin and high-wage labor certification; rules for automotive origin and the rollup provision; marking rules; a rapid-response mechanism for labor matters and implementation of labor law reform; Mexico’s prohibition on outsourcing; and developments in Mexico’s energy industry.

In addition to reviewing these key issues, we will discuss ways that companies can engage with government officials to obtain preferred legal and policy outcomes, resolve disputes over measures that may violate the USMCA, and take advantage of the benefits of USMCA in light of trade tensions and concerns about resilient supply chains.
