After a 10-year hiatus, Congress will resume its practice of directly appropriating funds for roads, bridges, airports, water projects, community-based health projects, and other activities and projects.
While the rules for congressionally directed spending, once known as “earmarks,” but now to be known as “Community Project Funding” will be different than before, including a prohibition on funding given directly to for-profit companies, these projects ultimately will benefit private sector companies that will build, supply and manage the funded projects.
Join King & Spalding, the Policy Director to House Majority Whip Rep. Jim Clyburn, Wintta Woldemariam; and former House Appropriations Staff Director David Pomerantz as we discuss how the new earmark system will work and how to prepare for the upcoming appropriations season as well as key considerations when contracting with the government.
