CHICAGO, May 2, 2022 — The American Lawyer has named King & Spalding partner Brent Ray to its 2022 Midwest Trailblazers list.
The publication recognized Ray for his pro bono work fighting discrimination against the transgender community and, specifically, for obtaining a first-of-its-kind victory on behalf of transgender prisoners in Illinois who were seeking mental and medical care for gender dysphoria. This win affects the policies and practices of every prison in Illinois and is used as a playbook for similar cases in other states. The Midwest Trailblazers list recognizes professionals in the Midwest who “have moved the needle in the legal industry,” according to the publication.
Ray, a partner on the firm’s intellectual property team, is a trial lawyer who has first-chaired multiple cases to verdict. He has served as lead counsel in over 25 case sand achieved success in nearly every major patent venue.
