Senior Planning Services Wins Dismissal of Unauthorized Practice of Law Investigation

King & Spalding secured a complete victory for Senior Planning Services (SPS) in an investigation before the Rhode Island Supreme Court’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee (“UPL Committee”) in a matter that has been ongoing since 2018.  After complaints were filed against SPS alleging that they engaged in services constituting the practice of law in Rhode Island, the UPL Committee scheduled the matter for an investigational hearing.  After discovery, summary judgment briefing, and a two-day trial, the UPL Committee unanimously agreed that the allegations were baseless and recommended dismissal of all claims.  On June 3, 2022, the Supreme Court of Rhode Island adopted the UPL Committee’s recommendation wholesale and dismissed the case.
