Navigating the Privacy and Security Landscape: Recent Developments and Best Practices for Life Sciences Companies

An overlapping patchwork of privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations governs most pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. Common practices like collaborations with healthcare providers, the use of de-identified data and reliance on third-party vendors are essential features to most large life sciences companies, but pose privacy and security risks—sometimes with severe government enforcement consequences. Guiding your company through this landscape requires both a broad view of the privacy and security risks and an understanding of the best practices for minimizing those risks.

In this webinar, we will cover:

  • The current privacy law landscape in the U.S., the European Union, and the United Kingdom, including HIPAA, state breach notification laws, state privacy laws, GDPR, NIS2, the UK Data Protection Act, and obligations imposed by FDA and FTC;
  • Recent privacy and security issues facing life sciences companies; and
  • Best practices for minimizing risk of government enforcement and liability.
