National Bar Association Names Wintta Woldemariam to its 2018 Top 40 Under 40 List

WASHINGTON, June 11, 2018 — The National Bar Association has named King & Spalding counsel Wintta Woldemariam to its annual “40 Under 40 Nation’s Best Advocates” list. The awards recognize the country’s top 40 lawyers under the age of 40 “who exemplify a broad range of high achievement in the legal field, including in advocacy, innovation, vision, leadership and overall legal and community involvement,” according to the organization.

The National Bar Association is the nation’s oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges. The 40 Under 40 list represents a cross-section of legal professionals, “all of whom are using their juris doctor degree in innovative and community impacting ways,” according to the organization. Recipients will be honored at a gala on Aug. 1, during the National Bar Association’s 93rd Annual Convention & Exhibits in New Orleans.

Woldemariam, who is based in Washington, D.C., is a member of King & Spalding’s Government Advocacy and Public Policy practice. She advises clients on congressional investigations, policy development, and enforcement actions, in areas ranging from data privacy and cybersecurity to financial services. Additionally, she counsels clients on crisis communications and management issues. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Woldemariam served as ethics counsel to President Barack Obama in the Office of the White House Counsel. Prior to joining the White House, Woldemariam was an attorney advisor in the Office of Legislative Affairs of the U.S. Department of Justice. Before that, she served as a policy advisor to Sen. Sherrod Brown (Ohio). She also served as counsel to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (New York). Woldemariam’s experience also includes roles in the U.S. House of Representatives, Texas State Senate and the office of Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott (current governor of Texas).
