Law360 Names King & Spalding an International Arbitration Practice Group of the Year for Third Consecutive Year

NEW YORK, Jan. 25, 2019 — Law360 has recognized King & Spalding’s International Arbitration practice as a 2018 Practice Group of the Year for having its “most successful year ever” in which it secured three major victories totaling $13.4 billion in just two months. This is the third straight year the firm has earned this recognition.

In its profile of the practice, Law360 highlighted the group’s “landmark” $9.5 billion complete victory for Chevron Corp. where Ecuador was found to have violated its bilateral investment treaty with the U.S.; the group’s $2.2 billion award for Union Fenosa Gas against Egypt regarding a gas supply contract; and its $1.7 billion win for Reliance Industries Inc. involving a production-sharing contract for an offshore gas block.

“We put the right people on the cases, and we all get along and collaborate well, which helps us achieve these terrific results for the clients,” Ed Kehoe, co-head of the firm’s International Arbitration team, told Law360.

Law360’s annual Practice Group of the Year honors are given to the law firms behind the “litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry” in the past year. The Practice Groups of the Year were selected from among 759 submissions from 84 law firms.

In addition to being named an International Arbitration Practice Group of the Year, King & Spalding also won Firm of the Year honors for being among the firms with the most Practice Group of the Year recognitions. The firm was also recognized as a Practice Group of the Year for Automotive, Construction, Environmental, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Product Liability.
