K&S Counsels Minority Owners of Canal 12 in Dispute with Nicaragua


On December 14, 2020, a K&S team composed of partner Viren Mascarenhas, counsel Douglass Cassel, and associate Enrique Molina submitted a notice of intent to commence arbitration against Nicaragua pursuant to the Dominican Republic- Central America FTA ("DR-CAFTA").  The dispute between the minority owners of Canal 12 -- the only national television station not owned by President Ortega and/or his allies -- and Nicaragua arises from Nicaragua's alleged breaches of the national treatment, minimum standard of treatment, and expropriation provisions of the treaty.
